Briala was born among the common folk, with no house or name in the chronicles, and entered House Maiskend by marrying Skondzal. He was humble, patient and vengeful, with a gift for keeping the accounts. He gave House Maiskend its name, and its motto: “What is one's is all's”. He lived under the rule of Tuelsue, Thegueth and Lainchon. He saw Stianess founded. He knew hunger in Llaness. When he died, House Maiskend counted 2 other members. He died of hunger in the winter of year 43, at the age of 31. The house he founded would go out in the autumn of year 47.
