Chapter 6 · The end of House Thuinmo

It was the spring of year 211. Ruesrengen, who headed Stianess, died of hunger, in the middle of life. She was forgiving, patient and proud.

Hunger stayed in Stianess for 3 years. At its worst there was no grain for 10 in every hundred mouths. Chuezailel decided to ration the grain in Stianess, because he was afraid. 33 people fled the hunger of Stianess and made for Zailira. It was not only there: Mueness, Zailira and Llaness went through the same in those years. The land finally gave back what it owed.

Mendbrark died of old age in Llaness, already an old man, after 46 years at the head of the Methllerk. He was generous, loyal and skeptical. He left a widow, Llomabria, and a child. The seat stood empty. By custom, the ruler was chosen by their own people, and Skaurau had blood on her side. Four stood for the seat: Duirklath, Sandresgo, Stuesthas and Bruinllui. Duirklath was chosen with 23 supporters to Sandresgo's 5. What weighed most was a gift for command and the prestige of their house.

With its last member House Thuinmo, whose motto was “One table, one roof”, went out: no one was left to bear its name. House Rasthuend, House Lauthlaus and House Suesto went out as well in these years, and 13 more besides.

The gods spoke twice in these years. “Drought on Llaness, let them learn,” asked Oskel_77. A dry season fell on the fields of Llaness. “Rain for Llaness again, please,” asked Brume. It did not happen: there was no drought to break, and rain without a drought is nothing the laws will grant.

The Methllerk went on into the years that followed. The mood was calm. Duirklath still held the seat.
